Five-division world
champion Floyd Mayweather remained unbeaten after defeating former
eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao on Saturday night in Las Vegas in
what many considered a generation-defining bout.
Mayweather used the opening rounds to feel Pacquiao out, peppering the
Filipino
boxer with jabs and using his elusive boxing style to keep his opponent
at bay. Pacquiao picked up the pace as the fight progressed, but all
too often found himself swinging at air when trying to catch "Money."
The
judges scored the card in favor of Mayweather, who improved to 48-0 (26
KOs). Pacquiao, who entered the bout riding a three-fight win streak,
fell to 57-6 (38 KOs).
The
star-studded event produced a gate of more than $70 million and will
most likely go down as the most lucrative event in the history of the
sport. culled
